It wasn’t enough to secure him a place in the final but the Head of PDHPE at Lumen Christi Catholic College in Pambula Beach and Cooper’s former teacher, Mark Thompson told East Coast Radio to get a clean run, is a fantastic achievement.

“I watched the run last night, I thought it was a fairly clean run, not that I know too much about the Moguls,” Mr Thompson said.

“I think he would have been very happy with his performance being his first every Winter Olympics.”

Only the top 10 athletes made it through from the first qualification event.

Cooper will have another chance to make it through to the final in the Second Qualifier on Saturday.

“From what I understand the top 10 go through automatically (in both qualifiers), that puts Cooper in the top four ready for the next qualifying round,” Mr Thompson said.

“All of his teachers and former classmates and friends at Lumen wish him all the best and hopefully he can make it through to that final.”
