A large community response has been recorded on a proposal to rezone approximately 279 hectares of land in South Bega from rural, rural residential or productivity support for new housing.
Bega Valley Shire Council has just released a report on community feedback they received on the Bega Urban Land Release plan.
The council said 137 submissions were made on the issue following a public exhibition period last year.

They included support to provide more housing in the town as well as concern about the nearby Bega Saleyards and the loss of productive agricultural land.
The council is expected to vote on the plan before the end of this year.
