A Maloneys Beach electrician has been sentenced after telling a magistrate his promised long term stint at a Victorian drug rehab farm hasn’t occured.

Shannon Matthew Stokes, who operates Bay Coast Electrical, pleaded guilty to drug-driving and driving while disqualified charges. He’s previously convicted of the same offences.

But Batemans Bay Local Court has been told the 50-year-old’s wife had been hospitalised and has just returned home with a tube through her nose and requires long term constant care.

This time around Magistrate Doug Dick was not as lenient.

He’s ordered the 50-year-old to complete 200 hours of community service, placed on an 18-month Community Corrections Order and submit to random drug tests.

He’s also must live under a daily curfew between 8pm and 6am and must report to police three times a week.
