A bit of a shock for some Far South Coast residents and visitors overnight.
An earthquake centred at Boorowa north of Canberra was registered on Geoscience Australia equipment at Mogareeta near Tathra.
A number of locals from Batemans Bay and Broulee lodged Felt Reports with the Federal Government agency for the 4.4 quake.

Geoscience Australia said it is the biggest quake in the region since 1977, which came in at 4.2.
They warn of follow up events in the coming days and weeks.
