Two men are dead following a two-vehicle smash on a Kings Highway.
The double fatality occurring about 3k’s on the Canberra side of Nelligan.
South Coast Duty Officer, Detective Inspector Justin Marks said the victims were aged 23 and 59.
“At about 1:30 yesterday afternoon, emergency services were called to the King’s Highway, about 3 kilometres west of the township of Nelligen to a report of a motor vehicle accident,” Detective Inspector Marks said.
“Emergency services arrived on scene a short time later and observed two motor vehicles that had collided head on around a bend just west of the town. It was identified that both vehicles contained a driver but there was no other passengers in either vehicle,” he said.
“It was established that both drivers were deceased. They appeared to have died on impact as a result of the head on collision.
“We’re currently preparing a report for the coroner. If anyone has any information in relation to it or did see the accident happen we urged them to contact crime stoppers or their local police.

“Our crime scene police from Queanbeyan attended along with police rescue. They’re making inquiries in relation to the cause of the accident and potential triggers as to what has happened,” Detective Inspector Marks said.
“It’s still too early on in the investigation to determine how the accident happened but it’s probably just a timely reminder to all motorists as we are coming up to the school holidays,” he said.
“Plan your trip. If you’re going to drive for lengthy periods of time, have a break, have a plan B, just look after you, look after your family and friends and just be mindful of our motorists on the road as well.”
While police are still to confirm the identities of the victims, the 23 year old man is believed to be from the Batemans Bay area and the 59 year old from Canberra.
