A Far South Coast telco that promotes it’s committed to local jobs could be about to sack dozens of staff.
Following a deal between Southern Phone’s owner AGL and Aussie Broadband we’ve been told by multiple sources that staff in the Moruya office have been informed to 50 positions will be moved overseas.
When we asked AGL about this they said “Nothing is final, but they are in consultation with their people with a focus on listening and supporting them through this period.
Full statement from an AGL spokesperson
“Yesterday at our half year results, we announced that AGL entered into a long-term strategic partnership with Aussie Broadband. Under the agreement, Aussie Broadband will acquire our ~400,000 Telco customer service. It’s important to note that migration hasn’t begun yet and is due to commence in FY27. We are in consultation with our people, so nothing is final, and our focus is on listening and supporting people through this period. We know how hard this is, and we don’t underestimate what this change means for our teams.”
