Up to 150mm of rain has officially fallen from Batemans Bay to Narooma overnight as the East Coast Low bears down on the Eurobodalla.
Some locals have told us they’ve recorded even more than that in their backyard gauges.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting up to another 100mm to be dump along the Far South Coast over the next 24 hours.
Very strong winds have also resulted in a lot of trees coming down across the shire.
SES Eurobodalla Commander Peter Collins has told the Far South Coast Newsroom…they’ve received more than 20 calls for help this morning and expects that number to keep rising.
“A lot of the jobs are for trees on road so they blocked for some time yet before we can get to them,” Mr Collins said.
“There’s certainly a number of trees on houses as well, which will be our priority once we can get the roads clear,” he said.
The SES is urging everyone to stay indoors today out of the weather unless they have to go out.
“Batten down the hatches today. My suggestion is if you don’t have to go anywhere today stay at home,” Mr Collins said.
To date the Sapphire Coast has been relatively unscathed. There are reports of some trees coming down and the Bega River starting to rise.
A Floodwatch for the waterway remains in place today.
