A Batemans Bay man accused of dealing drugs from a local hotel room has been released on bail.
23-year-old Zachariah Thorp-Harding fronted court yesterday via video link from South Coast Correctional Centre in Nowra.
Police opposed the application citing the large amount of different drugs and $47,000 in cash allegedly found in the waterfront room in May.
The court heard one of the serious charges against an accused drug dealer relates to a very disturbing text message exchange.
Zach Thorp-Harding is now facing a total of 11 charges including three counts of supplying a prohibited drug, possessing a commercial quantity of vapes, dealing with the proceeds of crime and conspiracy to commit an offence – Assault occasioning actual bodily harm in the company of others.
Police Prosecutor Sergeant David Weaver read out alleged text messages from the 23-year-old.
“We’ll put the c*** in hospital so he doesn’t remember nothing. Does he have a gun?” Sergeant Weaver told the court.
But Thor-Harding’s lawyer Adam Sumbak offered that his client would abide by the bail conditions that are as strict as they can be including his parents paying a $10,000 bond up front.
Judge Doug Dick agreed with what he described as ten paragraphs of conditions and has adjourned the matter for a fortnight.
He told Thorp-Harding his parents now have to go off to find $10,000 to pay for his bail surety.
