Frustrated Surfside homeowners take matters into their own hands

Surfside residents say they have been left with no choice but to build their own beachside sand dune in a bid to protect their homes from tidal inundation.

Wyamba Parade residents have been calling on council and the State Government to do something to replace the protective dune that you to exist along the shoreline.

He said he and his neighbours have heard nothing back since raising their plight of tidal inundation with again with Eurobodalla Shire Council and the State Government over two months ago.

“I feel like the council and government has washed their hands of it,” Mr Lyttle said.

“We’re still no clearer on who is responsible for replacing the 12 metres of protective sand dunes that have been washed away by tidal inundation in recent years.

“Somebody owns it. NSW Government say they don’t own it and the council says they don’t. So nobody is taking responsibility for it.”
