New race car build comes to life

Local car racer Maisie Place said it is so good to hear her latest vehicle run after building it from scratch.

The Mazda RX8 has just come to life for the first time inside her Moruya workshop ahead of its debut in the Bathurst 6-hour race on the Easter Long Weekend.

Maisie says it’s a great feeling.

“It’s so good to hear it finally run. I’ve owned this car for three years and this is the first time I’ve heard it run,” Maisie said.

“It’s been many long hours, late nights. I can’t even tell you how many hours I’ve put in to this,” she said.

“It’s impossible to put a number on it.”
