A judge has rejected a plea to not record convictions against a woman tackled to the ground by a good samaritan after setting a pharmacy on fire when she was refused a prescription medication.
22-year-old Ashley Morrison entered the Caremore outlet in Tuross just over a year ago with a lighter and petrol-soaked jumper demanding Ritalin.
She was also charged over a ram-raid on a Moruya chemist.
After pleading guilty to multiple damage property by fire charges and one count of assault, Morrison’s lawyer asked Judge Doug Dick to not convict his client due to her mental health issues.
But Judge Dick told Morrison he could not do that, fining her $1000 and placing her on a Community Corrections Order for three years saying so she can be constantly reminded to do the right thing.
