The Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) COVID-19 Vaccination Mobile Clinic will be in Batemans Bay over the next four weeks to provide the local community with easy access to the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

The walk-in clinic will be in the SEARMS building at the Batemans Bay Community Centre, Museum Place, Batemans Bay on Thursdays and Fridays from tomorrow, 13 January to 4 February between 10am and 3pm.

Children aged 5-11 will be able to attend on Fridays to receive their first dose of the paediatric Pfizer vaccine, which is a third of the dose required for people aged 12 years and above and offers protection from severe effects of COVID-19. Vaccination is not mandatory for children, and parental consent is required.

On Thursdays, people aged 12 years and above can attend the clinic to receive either their first, second or booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 5-11 started on Monday 10 January 2022 across Australia to provide children protection against COVID-19 and to help keep families safe and well.

Even though COVID-19 in children is often milder than in adults, there’s strong evidence to support vaccinating children, such as:
-Vaccines give the immune system a helping hand. By vaccinating your child, you’re helping to protect them from serious illness from COVID-19 and possible long-term effects.
-Vaccination also helps to protect friends, family and the community, including vulnerable people of all ages, by helping to reduce transmission.
-Vaccination helps reduce disruption to school and learning.

Booster vaccinations for people aged 12 years and above can be given four or more months after the first two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Studies show that the immunity created by COVID-19 vaccines begins to wane over time anda booster dose helps to strengthen the immune system and improve long-term protection against serious illness from the COVID-19 virus.
