Coolagolite Tiny Home on Wheels owner Josh Heins says it’s clear Bega Valley Shire Council really don’t care about the housing crisis.
After several weeks of campaigning publicly against a draft eviction notice, the council sent out a final order on Friday last week giving them 90 days to leave the property they are living in.
Josh said the council’s own website states Tiny Homes on Wheels are allowed in certain circumstances.
“They haven’t denied section 77 applies to us,” he said.
“The general consensus from councillors and council staff is that we should get a DA for our dwelling, which we would be happy to do if they could provide a legal basis or a legal framework, a legal understanding why we would need a DA.
“We are adamant Section 77 applies to us. Unless council can prove the opposite we are DA exempt.”
A petition against the eviction has gained over 23,000 signatures so far.
