Eurobodalla Shire Council said impacted residents have been advised about the testing for the potentially harmful PFAS chemical in Moruya.
The process along Campbell and Thomas Streets road verges and Gundary Oval began will take two weeks following the decommissioning of a fuel site in the area.
Testing will provide Council with information on the level of PFAS at the sites, if any, and prepare the way for remediation, if required.

Gundary Oval will remain open during the testing with results expected within six weeks.
