A teenager has been charged over a crash in the Monaro region last year, that resulted in a second teen suffering critical leg injuries.
On November 26, emergency services were called to Middle Flat Road, Cooma, where they discovered a Toyota Hilux which left the road and rolled with five teenagers inside.
A 17-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Canberra Hospital suffering critical leg injuries while the remaining passengers, a 15-year-old girl and two boys aged 17 – escaped serious injury.
The male driver, also 17, suffered a broken collar bone.
Following inquiries, the driver was arrested last Saturday (11 March 2023), and has been charged with four offences:
-Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous,
-Negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm,
-Not comply with P1 passenger restrictions, and,
-Drive with three unrestrained passengers.
The driver’s licence was suspended.
He is due to appear before the children’s court on June 21.
