The Moruya Business Chamber wants to know why an important community safety project has not progressed since it was taken over by Eurobodalla Shire Council.
The 6km South Head Road Shared Pathway Project between Moruya and Moruya Heads was established following the death of teenager Chris Brice on South Head Road in 2008.
Almost 20 years later the project remains only partially built.

Chamber President Rob Pollock said people with individual donations, bricks in the concrete paths along the way was how it started originally.
“People laid concrete and took it a long way along South Head Road all the way to Pretty’s Wharf,” Mr Pollock said.
“Then the council decided that they’d step in and take it over and promised to have it completed by 2025. Well, it’s now 2026, and it’s nowhere near complete and we’re hearing that the Congo cycleway has been brought it up to attention by the Eurobodalla Shire Council,” he said.
“We just want some action to get this cycleway finished.”

The Chamber has invited the community to a breakfast meeting on Thursday next week at the Adelaide Hotel to lobby for it to be finished.
“We’d like interested parties who would like to attend and help gather some support and put a bit of pressure on our council to actually get the promise of the completion of this pathway / cycleway done,” he said.
“It’s sitting in limbo. It’s had a little bit of work from the Congo Road and a little bit of work down to the bottom of the Anchorage Hill but it seems to have stopped dead over the last five years.
“Here we’re a little bit annoyed that we’re talking about a Congo footpath / bicycle way and they can’t even complete Moruya’s only one.”
The council has been invited to send a representative to the meeting to provide an update on where the project stands.
