A man has narrowly avoided going behind bars after fronting court charged with his 11th drink driving offence.

Robert Dale Eves plead guilty yesterday in Batemans Bay Local Court to high range drink driving and drive while never licenced.

The court heard eves was pulled over by police at Corrigans Beach and immediately told them “I’ve done the wrong thing” and held his hands up to be placed in hand cuffs.

He’s been sentenced to 12 months jail to be served as an Intensive Corrections Order in the community.

Eves also banned from driving for three years and fined $800.

Magistrate Doug Dick told Eves if he gets behind the wheel drunk again, you won’t come back to court but go straight before the parole board.

He told Eves “make no mistake this is a jail sentence. If you do this again you will go to jail.”
