A Denhams Beach man has been reportedly been sentenced to further jail time despite telling a judge he had learned his lesson while behind bars on remand for threatening and intimidating a former partner.
Billy John Quirk-Burke heard his fate in Bega District Court on Friday after earlier pleading guilty to aggravated break and enter and commit an indictable offence, and two counts of intimidation with the intent to cause fear of physical harm.
Bega District News reports the court was told the 26-year-old had already spent more than a year in prison since his arrest.
Judge Andrew Haesler told him the sentence needs to reflect how unacceptable this behaviour is and dented him to two years and four months in jail.
