While a number of banks are closing regional branches, a new Community Bendigo Bank office will open in the South East on Monday.
The new Bendigo Bank Bombala office will open on March 20 at 104 Maybe Street, Bombala.
The new office will be operated by Community Bank Pambula and District, a community initiative which came together with Bendigo Bank to bring critical banking services to Pambula.
That same community group is again partnering with Bendigo Bank to ensure business and the community can access important banking services in Bombala.
Chair of Community Bank Pambula and District Tim Shepherd says that after the recent withdrawal of banking services from Bombala, this new move could not have come at a better time.
“The importance of having a bricks and mortar banking experience can’t be understated,” Mr Shepherd said.
“Ensuring financial services are available to the Bombala community and provided by a community-owned bank is something very important to us.”
The new Bendigo Bank Bombala Office will provide critical banking services for Bombala locals including transaction, savings and term deposit accounts, loans, farm and business lending as well as face-to-face customer service.
“With home loan services, business and agri-loans, farm managed deposits and other services available in Bombala – all from a community owned bank in Pambula – this is a great outcome for Bombala,” Mr Shepherd said.
Mayor Narelle Davis of Snowy Monaro Regional Council is also excited to see continued access to banking services for Bombala locals.
“I congratulate Community Bank Pambula and District for opening an office in Bombala, enabling the Bombala community to have access to ongoing banking services,” Mayor Davis said.
The Bendigo Bank Bombala Office will be located in the heart of Bombala in the Kothes building, Office 4, 104 Maybe Street.
The official opening will be held at 10am on Monday 20 March 2023 with the community invited to attend.
The new office will be open from Monday to Friday, from 10am to 3pm.
