Merimbula has taken home Silver at the Top Tourism Town awards at the Local Government NSW Destination and Visitor Economy Conference in Wagga.
The Top Tourism Town Awards showcase the value of tourism to the towns and communities across NSW and celebrate the diversity and outstanding regional destinations of our State.
Berry won Gold in the ‘Small Tourism Town’ category for places with a population between 1500 and 5000 residents, with the Sapphire Coast town hot on its heels in second place.
Hanna Marshall from Merimbula Tourism (pictured above with Sapphire Coast Tourism Manager, Rhys Treloar) told ARN Bega Bay, it was exciting for the region.
“We are looking forward to seeing what this brings,” Marshall said.
“We all know that Merimbula is a perfect tourist town, and now we’ve got the certificate to prove it,” she laughed.
“Just want to thank all of our local businesses especially Club Sapphire and the Merimbula RSL who, as a part of their ClubGrants Program, that meant I was able to be here (in Wagga) to accept the award, so a massive shoutout to them.”
The northern part of the South Coast won all three gold medals, with Huskisson, Berry, and Kiama named winners of the highly coveted NSW Top Tourism Towns for 2024.
Ulladulla, Eden and Tilba each came home with Silver in the 2023 Top Tourism Town awards.
