“It’s definitely at the forefront for us as well as making sure we’re finding a way of not having to go back to the ratepayer and asking for any extra money,” he said.

“You know there’s definitely some hurdles to jump. We’ve got some big projects like the Batemans Bay Masterplan and the dam down at Bodalla that’s about ready to go to turn on.”

When we questioned the mayor about the sudden departure of former GM Warwick Winn in March, he said it was nobody else’s business.

Mayor Hatcher told us he and Mr Winn are on good terms, but he can’t say anymore.

“I’m all for complete transparency where available but you know if I became sick and in the hospital I don’t think I’d be ringing the media to tell them what’s wrong with me,” he said.
