A man in his 70’s has been taken to South East Regional Hospital after his car ended up in the Bega River.
Emergency Services were called to the corner of Auckland and Bridge Streets in Bega around 9:15am on Thursday (May 25), where they discovered a white Holden Combo Van that was stuck in the Bega River.
While there is a dirt road going down to the river, it is a track you would not choose to drive down, especially in a car that’s not a four wheel drive.
Sergeant Brad Ross, from Bega Valley Highway Patrol was on the scene and told East Coast Radio that police are still trying to determine what happened.
“An elderly gentleman has been taken to South East Regional Hospital after being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics after ending up in the Bega River,”
“Inquiries are continuing at this time.”
A tow truck has retrieved the car.
