A man has been told his long criminal record disentitles him to any leniency when being sentenced for assaulting two police officers and resisting arrest.
Batemans Bay Local Court has been told Gary Richard Rothwell seriously injured the hand of one officer and spat into the mouth of another.
Rothwell was arrested after shouting abuse at people including on Wharf Road in the town.
The court heard the hand required surgeries including the insertion of wires while the other police officer had to wait a long time for blood test results.
The two police victims sat in court to hear Rothwell sentenced.
Magistrate Michael Love told Rothwell his actions were disgraceful and despicable.
He’s already been on remand since June last year.
With time already served he’ll be eligible for parole a week before Christmas this year.
