Batemans Bay residents who fear people will die when the local hospital Emergency department is closed have gone on the attack against the State Government and senior health bureaucrats.
Southern NSW Local Health District will conduct their annual online community meeting this afternoon.
Those against the shut down are demanding details of the so-called community consultation that informed the decision.
Southern Chief Executive Margaret Bennett said she’s always happy to have a respectful conversation about the issue.
“Being that there some some members of the community who are concerned, I think it is a matter of continuing to discuss that,” Ms Bennett said.
“Often we find in the discussion we do bring additional information for some people that they haven’t been aware of before,” she said.
But the region’s top health official said the State Government has made it quite clear the decision is not going to change.
“From the Premier, Minister, ourselves and the Ministry as well answers have been given and remain the same,” she said.
The Southern NSW Local Health District Annual Community Meeting will be conducted this afternoon between 4:00 and 4:45 online.
