South Coast Police are reminding locals and visitors in the Eurobodalla to lock their vehicles and not leave anything valuable inside, after a spate of car thefts in the area over the last two months.
Police recommend locking your vehicle and closing all windows whenever you leave your car.
Tradies are also being urged to remove tools from their utes if unattended.
A police spokesperson has confirmed while some recently stolen cars have been recovered, four cars are still unaccounted for.
Police are searching for these stolen vehicles:
-2001 Mitsubishi Pajero rego ANK47B stolen 02/02/2023 at Catalina
-2009 Silver Corolla rego BMK17A stolen 23/03/2023 at Batehaven
-2013 Blue Ford Territory rego CSY09F stolen 26/03/2023 at Sunshine Bay
-2014 White Mazda CC5 Rego CWP65N stolen 30/03/2023 from Broulee
The majority of these involved the key either in the vehicle, the vehicle unlocked or the keys within an unlocked home.
According to NSW Police, approximately 90 per cent of vehicles that have property stolen from them are unlocked.
Anyone with information on the stolen vehicles is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Tips from NSW Police:
-Police are reminding locals to lock their vehicles and not leave anything valuable in them.
-Whenever you leave your car – event for short periods of time – lock it and close all windows.
-Remove property from inside the car when you’re not in it; especially mobile phones, bags, money in consoles and paperwork including registration and mail that contains personal information.
-Don’t give opportunistic thieves any reason to go through your vehicle.
