Eden man pleads guilty to starting high school fire

An Eden man will reportedly remain behind bars until his next court appearance after admitting he set at a local school on fire.

The fire on December 4 last year left Eden Marine High with a $160,000 damage bill.

Police alleged at the time they located three Molotov cocktails when investigating the scene.

Bega District News reports 59-year-old Steele Wilson pleaded guilty yesterday during an appearance Bega Local Court via video link from jail to break and enter, destroy property valued at greater than $60,000 “by means of fire.

Magistrate Doug Dick ordered a pre-sentence report and remanded him in custody.

He be sentenced in Bega District Court in October.
