Driver airlifted to hospital after truck crash on South Coast

A police operation is underway following a heavy vehicle crash on the south coast today (Friday March 24).

The Princes Highway was closed in both directions most of the morning, after a truck crash just north of Sam’s Creek Bridge, between Cobargo and Tilba Tilba.

The mobile crane truck was found on its side by emergency services just after 6am.

The driver and sole occupant, a man in his 40’s has been airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a stable condition with suspected leg injuries, by the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter.

Police have been told the driver of the mobile crane swerved to avoid hitting a kangaroo, before the vehicle struck a guard rail and tipped on its side, trapping the driver.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and visit www.livetraffic.com before travelling.
