A former soldier from Broulee has been warned he is right at the point of going to jail after pleading guilty to his second high range drink driving offence.

Clint Ronald Hall has been sentenced to a Community Corrections Order for three years including no drinking alcohol and undertaking counselling as directed, banned from driving and fined $2000.

Hall told Batemans Bay Local Court he only started drinking after mistaking a can of Hard Solo for soft drink before being busted drink driving.

His lawyer Adam Sumbak told the court his client had grabbed what he mistook for soft drink from the fridge after his daughter’s 16th birthday party then driving her to a friend’s place.

He said that then set off drinking in his brain.

Magistrate Doug Dick told Hall “It’s often been said one drink is too much and 100 is not enough.”

“When you leave here today you have a long test ahead of you.”

“If you end up in jail its because you failed.”
