Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) has advertised for a driver to transport dirty medical instruments used in emergency operations from Moruya to South East Regional Hospital in Bega for sterilisation.
The new position within the Central Sterile Services Department follows a decision to not include any on-site sterilisation capability at the $330-million Eurobodalla Regional Hospital when it opens in March next year.
An ad for the role specifies a salary of just over $63,000 a year for a 38-hour week driving up and down the Princes Highway.
We understand the sterilisation process will take a minimum two hours on top of the four-hour return trip, depending on on traffic.
As we previously reported, SNWLHD has procured a specially fitted out vehicle for the job.
Applications closed last month for role.
