Car fire north of Narooma

A motorist on the South Coast has escaped injury after his car caught fire at Kianga yesterday.

Emergency services were notified of the incident that occurred near Mort Street on the Princes Highway around 10:45am on Monday (January 23).

The owner of the Toyota Corolla assisted first responders to put the fire out.

There were no injuries or major traffic delays reported as a result of the car fire, and the car was towed soon after the incident.

Spokesperson for the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, Greg Allan, said seven firefighters attended during the peak of the activity.

“Our fire crews were alerted to the vehicle fire just before 11 o’clock on Monday,” Mr Allan said.

“Crew soon got to work and had the fire extinguished with no major disruption or obstruction to traffic in the area.”

The fire was determined to be caused by mechanical issues.
