A new Bega Memorial Swimming Pool is one step closer to reality this morning.
The council is calling for expressions of Interest from architects to design the project to replace the aging facility.
The major upgrade made possible by a $10-million funding commitment from local MP Kristy McBain at the Federal Election last year.
Council’s Aquatic and Leisure Facilities Coordinator Nicholas Hoynes said the improved facilities will be welcomed by the community.
“We are now seeking qualified architects and facility designers to review and help shape the future Bega pool redevelopment with consideration of Council’s endorsed concept design,” Mr Hoynes said.
“This project will redevelop the facility to include a 10-lane 25m pool, warm water program pool, wading pool with water play features, accessible facilities and environmentally sustainable design,” he said.
“It will deliver a modern, accessible and fit-for-purpose aquatic facility that supports sport, exercise, rehabilitation, recreation and water safety education.”
“The upgraded pool will give our community a central place to stay active, connect and support both health and social well-being.”
The tender closes on Friday 20 February 2026.
