The family of a former Broulee woman critically injured in an alleged hit and run on QLD’s Sunshine Coast have made the agonising decision to turn off her life support.
Mallee Smith had her life at her feet. She was almost one year into a career at Shellharbour Council.
Police say she had travelled up to QLD to see family.
It was meant to be a surprise early Christmas present…instead it has turned into tragedy.
The 24-year-old had been fighting for her life since she was in the wrong place, Maroochydore, at the wrong time on Saturday night.
38-year-old Brazilian national Guilherme Dal Bo, in Australia on a working visa, is alleged to have driven straight at a group of men, who he had earlier had a minor argument with.
Mallee Smith, unintentionally, and unfortunately, caught up in this deadly action.
Dal Bo will reappear in court on Friday, where one of his eights counts of attempted murder is expected to be upgraded to murder.
