Visitors are still being allowed in on compassionate grounds.

Southern NSW Local Health District has urged people who need access to medical services to continue to use the hospitals.

It comes after NSW Health Minister, Brad Hazzard announced over 1200 people,  who had less than the full vaccinations that were available to them, have died of COVID-19 related issues since the start of the 2022.

Mr Hazzard went on to say the new wave of coronavirus is being driven by the new Omicron BA.4 and 5 variants, with the peak set to hit around late July and early August.
