This position is a permanent, full time role in Council’s Development Services Division, based at Moruya. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership for the Division and and will contribute to major organisational projects and initiatives. The position will provide professional planning and assessment of development and construction proposals, planning and regulatory matters ensuring statutory requirements and Council standards are maintained to achieve a safe, well-designed built environment in an ecologically sustainable manner. An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, inclusive of a cash component, Division Manager Allowance, fully maintained Council salary packaged vehicle (including full private usage) and 12% superannuation.

Skills Required
You’re a qualified professional in Town Planning, Civil Engineering, Environmental Health, Building Surveying (or similar), with eligibility for PIA, IPWEA or AIBS membership. You have practical experience in Local Government or a comparable setting at a management level. You bring strong capability in financial and project management, paired with clear and effective communication skills that support successful service delivery. You’re a confident decision-maker who thrives in a dynamic, sometimes political environment, balancing priorities and resources to achieve organisational goals. A capable leader, you motivate and guide teams while building strong, collaborative relationships across your organisation and community. Your negotiation and community engagement skills are well developed, with a track record of delivering balanced, practical outcomes. You’re highly proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with GIS platforms, such as Intramaps. You understand the importance of workplace health and safety and will ensure your Division is looked after.
