A new group has been formed to push for the completion of a pathway between Moruya and Moruya Heads.
The project stalled five years ago when the Eurobodalla Shire Council ran out of funding for the 6km section along South Head Road.
More than 25 people attended a meeting on the issue yesterday.
Moruya Business Chamber President Rob Pollock said we had a fantastic rollup for our business breakfast and focus on the Moruya Shared Pathway.
“We had Dannielle Brice there, who’s been sitting on the cycleways committee for some time now and obviously after the death of her son was the main priority focus for her,” Mr Pollock said.
“The chamber has now formed a new subcommittee. From that subcommittee we will to try and get this cycle away finished. Our slogan will be 8828.
“We had representatives there from Eurobodalla Shire Council. We had a lot of talk and there was a lot of advocacy in the room,” he said.
“They have got a strategic plan for cycleways and at the moment this particular part of this cycleway is not on their priority list. They will have a chat internally and with councillors and see if we can push this particular pathway to the top of the list.
“From there then we can hopefully go out and secure some state and federal funding. It’ll require $2.2 million to get this completed.”
