Yarning Spaces – yawa-mba ngarn (‘speaking place’)

Yarning Spaces is a nine-week community wellbeing program designed to support people to strengthen their health and wellbeing through connection, reflection, and shared learning.

This unique program brings together cultural knowledge, creative practices, and health and wellbeing approaches in a safe and inclusive environment. Participants will explore a range of experiences including connection to Country, mindfulness, creative expression, healthy habits, and building stronger connections with community and support networks.

Developed for the Eurobodalla region, the program draws on First Nations ways of being, knowing and doing, while remaining open and welcoming to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal participants.

Yarning Spaces creates a space for people to come together, learn, reflect, and grow in a supportive community setting.

he program runs across nine weekly sessions:

  • Week 1 – Circle & Arrival
  • Week 2 – Connection to Country
  • Week 3 – Connection to Body
  • Week 4 – Connection to Mind & Emotions
  • Week 5 – Connection to Family & Kinship
  • Week 6 – Connection to Community
  • Week 7 – Connection to Spirit & Ancestors
  • Week 8 – Connection to Culture
  • Week 9 – Closing Celebration
