A Surfside resident it’s about time Eurobodalla Shire Council and the State Government fixed the issue with tidal inundation in the suburb once and for all.
George Giorgio has lived on Myamba Parade for decades, and like his neighbours, is sick of the ongoing political posturing that leaves their homes at risk of flooding.
He said recent beach scraping, which largely washed away a few weeks ago, was a waste of time and money.
“I think you can hear the frustration in my voice. Apart from swearing which I’m not allowed to, we get the same scenarios, the same thing nothing gets done,” Mr Georgio said.
“It’s all a band aid solution. Nothing gets permanent. We want a permanent solution,” he said.
“With the science of today there has got to be a solution. you know whether it’s a rock wall or what, I have no idea. I’m not a scientist. Something has gotta be done. It’s a public beach. If this gets eroded away it’s an asset of the council.”
Mr Georgio said saying there is no funding is just an excuse.
“The council can get the money from the State Government, the Federal Government. You know if it comes to pitching in I’m willing to put money into the kitty to get something done.,” he said.
We reached out to Eurobodalla Shire Mayor Matt Hatcher for a response but are yet to receive one.
