During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hilary Duff was asked to name her favorite on-screen love interest.
Given the choice between Chad Michael Murray in A Cinderella Story, Penn Badgley in Gossip Girl, and Yani Gellman in The Lizzie McGuire Movie, the star had an easy answer.
Why? Because she often watches one particular movie with her daughter.
“I’m just going to stick to it because I just watched it with my daughter, and it’s embarrassing that she always wants to watch it,” she said. “I’m going to say Chad Michael Murray.”
Duff recalled one of the film’s most memorable scenes. “It was the walk up the bleachers,” she explained. “And the raindrop, I was like, ‘Wow, this is romantic!'”
The actress recently told Vanity Fair about her 4-year-old daughter Mae’s hilarious reaction to the 2004 teen rom-com, where her daughter asked the age old question “how could he not know it’s you in that mask? I was like, ‘It’s the age-old question, honey.’ And she’s like, ‘But it’s you. You are right there. I don’t understand. How does he not know?’ I’m like, ‘I know.’”
It seems the scene’s romance wasn’t lost on Hilary, even all these years later.
