Alleged ‘hit and run’ driver pleads not guilty

A Canberra man accused of a hit and run at Ulladulla followed by a police chase that ended near Batemans Bay has pleaded not guilty in court.

27-year-old Blake James Rose has had two fresh charges laid against him…taking the total number now, to 13.

They include dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, fail to stop and assist and drink and drug driving.

Batemans Bay Local Court has been told preliminary testing has come back to say the drugs were cocaine and methylamphetamine.

Police claim Rose struck a 15 year-old boy who was with a group of mates leaving him with serious injurious. He was airlifted to The Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.

Magistrate Doug Dick questioned why the matter was listed in the Bay saying it should be moved to Milton Local Court.

Rose remains on bail and is required to report to Belconnen Police daily and comply with a curfew between 9pm and 6am.

The matter adjourned to May 7.
