Community feedback is being sought on a new draft plan covering flood risk and mitigation at Wolumla.
This is the second phase of the project endorsed by Bega Valley Shire Council in July last year.
Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick said the plan is available on council’s website and Facebook pages.
“It’s inform future mitigation measures to make sure our road network and everything is floodproof out in that Wolumla area,” he said.
“There’s the possibility of a large housing estate happening so that’ll provide mitigation measures around that so to make sure no properties are in a flood plain.”
Mayor Fitzpatrick said implementing the plan once it is signed off by the council will have financial implications.
“Some of those long term costs are around bridges and culverts so we’ll have to look at that in our long term financial plan and how we meet those in the future going forward.”
Plans for an additional 300 homes in the town are currently being assessed by the NSW Planning Department.
