Police have been given another six weeks to complete a brief of evidence against six people charged with the brutal killing of Bega man Gordon Kessey.
The arrests before Christmas last year followed the 45-year-old’s alleged murder in East Street on the October Long Weekend.
The DPP asked for the extra time to complete preparing the case against st the five men and one woman.
Magistrate Doug Dick granted the request and criticised the original decision by the bail court to not provide the time needed to complete such a large brief.
44-year-old Tehata Hapuku, 48-year-old Serkan Hosoglu, 29-year-old Kody Lloyd his 32-year-old brother Dion, 34-year-old Benjamin Robinson and 19-year-old Latisha Mundy all charged with murder and wounding a person with intent to murder.
The second charge related to an alleged attack on 45-year-d Benjamin Smith in the same incident. He was rushed to South East Regional Hospital with serious injuries but was later released. He is not accused of any wrongdoing.
The arrests followed a six-week complex investigation that included multiple searches.
The matter will be re-listed for mention at Bega Local Court in March.
