Reigning Sapphire Coast Australian Football League premiers, the Narooma Lions, have had a first round flogging, losing 103 points to 3 against the Merimbula Diggers in the men's seniors division.

It was a repeat of last year's grand final game, with a very different result.

President of the Lions, Harold Mackie, said before the game last week there would be many new players taking to the field for the Lions, and it's understood the late change to the schedule - which saw the game played at Merimbula instead of Narooma - meant a number of Lions' players weren't available.

SCAFL's Mitch Wallis says the Lions are also missing key goal scorers this season and will have to dig deep.

See below for the rest of the rounds' results for the senior men's and women's competition.
