Try in last minute sees Bega Roosters beat rivals Tathra in Round 1 of Group 16

The Bega Chicks had a massive victory over Tathra 60 points to 0 on Sunday. 

The first round of Group 16 rugby league was played over the weekend with some hard fought and close games, which augers well for this year's competition. 

Last year's premiers Bombala Blue Heelers got off to a great start, defeating rivals Cooma Stallions 24 points to 22.  The Narooma Devils will be celebrating after defeating the Batemans Bay Tigers 24 points to 20. The Moruya Sharks were too good for the Eden Tigers, who are just returning to the comp. The final score was 32 points to 16. 

In the local derby at Bega the Roosters scored in the last minute of the game to defeat rivals the Tathra Sea Eagles 22 points to 20. 

In 2nd grade Bombala defeated Cooma  20 points to18; Batemans Bay beat Narooma  24 points to 6, Moruya 32 accounted for Eden 22 and the Snowy River Bears had a strong return to the competition after an absence of about 32 years, beating Candelo-Bemboka United at Bemboka, 24 points to 12.
