Storm warning amid fears run-off will create environmental disaster for our waterways

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

for HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES issued 1.30pm 16th Jan 

For people in Hunter, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains, Australian Capital Territory and parts of Mid North Coast, Illawarra, Central West Slopes and Plains, Riverina and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts.

Concerns are mounting this afternoon about the affect heavy rain will have on the region's waterways, already under pressure. There are reports of sludge on the once pristine Clyde River and there are calls for the NSW government to mobilise to avert another environmental disaster, on top of the catastrophic impact the bushfires have already had on wildlife, ecosystems and habitat, and the  affect on business, including tourism in the region.
