Emergency warning for Currowan fire, important advice for South Coast residents on and near the fire ground

CURROWAN BUSHFIRE UPDATE - 2.44pm 3rd December

♨️ IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION

FOR RESIDENTS OF TERMEIL AND FLAT ROCK AREA. Seek shelter as the fire approaches. Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. It is too late to leave.

FOR RESIDENTS OF LONG BEACH, MALONEYS BEACH AND SOUTH DURRAS. Police are door-knocking in these communities at the moment, and if you are in these areas and your plan is to leave you should consider doing so now. The evacuation centre at Batemans Bay is now at MACKAY PARK, not Hanging Rock.

FOR RESIDENTS WEST OF THE PRINCES HIGHWAY BETWEEEN TERMEIL AND EAST LYNNE. Monitor conditions. Take advice from firefighters in the area and follow your bush fire survival plan.

FOR RESIDENTS BETWEEN BAWLEY POINT AND NORTH DURRAS, including Kioloa, Depot Beach, Pebbly Beach and Pretty Beach. Monitor conditions. Take advice from firefighters in the area and follow your bush fire survival plan.

♨️Current Situation

The fire is burning in an east and north-easterly direction, towards the area of Termeil, Bawley Point and Pebbly Beach.
The southern edge of the fire has been burning towards East Lynne and Benandarah. The fire has crossed the Princes Highway and is burning to the north of, and adjacent to, Mt Agony Road.
Crews are working in and around Depot Beach and North Durras.
Crews have been actively defending properties in the Bundle Hill area. Firefighters are in the area of Kioloa to provide property protection if required.
The fire crossed the Princes Highway in a number of locations north of East Lynne and south of Termeil.
The Princes Highway is closed between Burrill Lakes and the Kings Highway turnoff. Check Live Traffic NSW for updates.
Today strong westerly winds are forecast and this will continue to push the fire predominately in an easterly direction.

The evacuation centre at Ulladulla is at the Civic Centre.

If you are threatened by fire

Do not be in the path of the fire.
Protect yourself from the heat of the fire. Wear protective clothing and footwear. Cover all exposed skin.
If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire.
If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000).

National Parks and Wildlife Service has closed campgrounds in Murramarang National Park, as well as a number of national parks. Check for closures at NSW Parks and Wildlife Service.
