A sinister scam has emerged on the South Coast with scammers fraudulently claiming to be fundraising on the behalf of the South East Regional Hospital, at Bega, for the intensive care and emergency departments.
NSW Health says the scammers have faked NSW Health identification and are door-knocking in the region.
A spokeswoman for NSW Health says if someone should come to your door saying they represent the hospital or the health district, do not give them money.
Anyone approached should contact the Bega, or Batemans Bay police, or phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The spokeswoman says police have been notified regarding the scam.
