A statewide total fire ban has been declared for today, Tuesday, due to forecast hot, dry and windy conditions.
No fires may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended.
The NSW Rural Fire Service has issued a very high fire danger for the Far South Coast and Monaro Alpine regions and a severe fire danger warning for the Illawarra fire region.
The Far South Coast region takes in both the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla shires.
The Bureau of Meteorology says hot, dry and windy conditions ahead of a cold front are generating elevated fire danger across much of the state.
