Good news for local dairy farmers, with the average farm cash income to increase by 2 per cent.
According to a report by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics, New South Wales will see improvement while the rest of the country won't be so lucky.
The report analysed the industry between 2015 and 16, showing a predicted increase despite a rise in total cash costs.
While the news is promising for the industry, the study also showed the number of dairy farms in the state had declined by 44 per cent.
