Batemans Bay CBD parking reduced for streetscaping works

Batemans Bay

Motorists are being warned to expect reduced parking in Batemans Bay’s Orient Street from next week.

Construction of a new raised pedestrian crossing near the bakery as part of Eurobodalla Shire Council’s $1.6 million streetscaping project and is expected to disrupt parking in the street, with most of the parking in the works area to be removed while the new crossing is built which could take three to four weeks.

The parking will be reinstated when the crossing is finished and at the streetscaping project’s completion, the street will have 59 parking spaces, up from the current number of 53.

The raised style crossing will increase pedestrian visibility and slow traffic in the busy area and the existing pedestrian crossing near the Post Office will remain in use until the new one is finished.

Council’s engineering team has visited shopkeepers this week to keep them updated on progress and let them know what to expect for the final stage of the project, which is due to be completed by September.
