Emergency services have been called to a plane accident on Coila Lake in the Eurobodalla this afternoon (Wednesday August 10) which has resulted in two people being taken to hospital.
The seaplane with two people on board was reported to have flipped over on the lake near Tuross Head, with a call for help being received by Marine Rescue just after 1pm, crews from Tuross-Moruya and Batemans Bay attended along with other emergency service crews.
Rescue Water Craft were brought in and the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter 23 plucked the two men in their 50s from the water near the seaplane.
The pair were treated for minor cuts and abrasions and taken to Moruya District Hospital in a stable condition.
“Plane crashes generally result in traumatic injuries,” says Inspector Matthew Pietrucha.
“Paramedics worked with the Westpac rescue team to recover the two men from the water. On this occasion, both patients were lucky to escape serious injury.”
Fire and Rescue and RFS crews attended to investigate any Hazmat issues as Marine Rescue crews were stood down.
Roads and Maritime Services are attending to the crashed plane and any pollution threat.
FRNSW and RFS are staging at the boat ramp to access the plane. Extra booms are being called for to retrieve the plane.
